Three numbers, kept by staff in #ledger-log:
- Renown: how famous you are, and how your court treats you.
- Bounty: how badly the courts want an outlaw dead.
- Marks: money, spent in the #market.
None of them make you stronger. A powerful character can be unknown; a weak one can be famous.
Renown thresholds
- Courtier, C-Class: 10
- B-Class: 15
- Emissary, A-Class: 25
- House Head: 30
- Inner Circle: 50
- High Lord / Lady: 50, granted on ascension
Reaching a threshold makes you eligible, nothing more. Characters claimed at a higher rank start with that rank's Renown. A dead character's Renown is gone with them.
Earning Renown
Missions pay by tier, per person (minimum posts per person in brackets):
- Errand: 1 (4 posts)
- Task: 2 (8 posts)
- Venture: 4 (15 posts)
- Peril: 6 (21 posts)
- Nightmare: 10 (28 posts)
Fame fades for easy work:
- At 10+ Renown, Errands pay nothing.
- At 10+, Tasks pay only in a group. At 25+, they pay nothing.
- At 25+, a solo Venture pays 1.
- At 50+, only Nightmare missions, captures, kills, events and sagas pay.
Staff may also award small amounts for anything genuinely famous, or take Renown away for anything infamous: fleeing a fight you swore to fight, betraying an ally, being publicly humiliated.
Hunting and being hunted
Capturing or killing an outlaw pays twice their class's mission value:
- Petty 2 · Notable 4 · Dangerous 8 · Infamous 12 · Dread 20
Outlaws earn Bounty by killing people of note:
- Sworn or Wanderer 3 · Courtier 5 · Emissary or Shadow 10 · Inner Circle 15 · High Lord or Lady 25
Outlaws who kill outlaws earn nothing. Outlaws gain Bounty from crimes and missions just as others gain Renown.
Marks
Marks come from graded threads. For each character:
Marks = graded words ÷ 10 × quality × thread type
- Quality: 0.5 for careless writing, 1 for solid, 1.5 for excellent. Spelling, clarity, voice and interest count.
- Thread type: solo ×1 · group ×1.25 · saga ×1.5 (active participants only; spectators get group rate).
- Caps: at most 2,000 graded words per post, and 20,000 solo words per character per week.
Businesses can raise what you earn (see Market). Example: a 6,000-word group thread written well pays 6,000 ÷ 10 × 1 × 1.25 = 750 Marks.
Getting graded
Post finished threads in #thread-inbox with the template there. One post per thread; if your last request has not been graded yet, edit it instead of posting again. Staff record Renown, Bounty, Marks and progress credit in #ledger-log.
